Deciduous, ornamental and evergreen trees are a beautiful addition to any garden or open space environment. Autumn is a magical time of the year for deciduous trees, with leaves turning brilliant hues of red, yellow, gold, rust and orange. The ornamental pears at the back of the nursery have been simply stunning this month. Ornamental pears are often considered among the hardiest and easiest to grow of all garden trees, able to tolerate drought and intermittently wet sites including clay soils.

Choosing the right tree involves consideration of many factors including height, width, density and overall shape. Ask yourself why you are planting a tree. Do you want it to provide shade? Do you want it to make a statement? Do you love spring blossom? There really is a tree to suit every garden and suit all of your requirements.

One of our all time favourites is the enchanting little tree Cercis canadensis 'Forest Pansy'. We love this tree with it's huge purple heart-shaped leaves and informal habit. Growing to about 5m x 5m, its ideal for small areas.
